A short story on how faith works and prayers do miracles

Remembering how prayers and faith had worked for me, I feel very fortunate that the universe always answers my prayers one way or the other. Sometimes, it takes time and sometimes it answers instantly but what I know is that it works.

A few days back, the universe again made me realise that faith always works. It was a rainy day in Mumbai and I had to catch a flight to Delhi to pay a visit to my in-laws. Since I was new to Mumbai, my wife specifically advised me to leave the office by 4 PM to reach the airport on time. By the way, the departure time of our flight was 8:40 PM and Boarding had to start at 7:55 PM. Considering the crowd at Mumbai airport, one can calculate the time it takes for all the check-in formalities. Anyways, to avoid a rushed check-in, one has to reach the airport at least 40 minutes before the boarding time.

However, I, being lazy and careless as always, left the office at around 5 PM and reached home at 5:45 PM. Soon after reaching my home, I started packing my stuff and my wife was staring at me with her devilish eyes. Suddenly, I realised that a blunder had been made. But, I was hopeful that we will reach in time, as based on my calculations, it hardly takes an hour to reach the airport. 

I opened Google Maps and my world turned upside down and then my wife, who was sitting next to me had also checked Google maps and turning her face towards me gave an expression full of anger. Obviously, she was not happy as we were going to miss our flight and she would have to wait further to meet her family.

FYI, the expected time to reach the airport was 7:30 PM  and it was increasing with every passing minute. 

And finally, when we were 3 kms away, we got stuck in the traffic and it seemed that the time had stopped as the vehicles stopped moving. With every passing minute, I could feel the tension building up. It was 07:30 in the evening and we were still stuck in the traffic. I was really praying as I knew that now only God could save me. He can make everything possible as he is the supreme power and his help is only a prayer away. 

As I was praying, a message popped up on my wife's phone at around 7:33 pm and she peeped into her phone to read it. She was silent like nothing had happened. My stress was building up and was at its peak. Then suddenly my wife told me that our flight had gotten delayed by 45 minutes and I was so happy, not because the flight was delayed but realizing how God answered my prayers. There are many incidents in my life when it didn't require me to express my problems and my problems just got solved by praying only. 

This was one recent incident which made me realize that God always helps us, he always answers our prayers and faith does magic. We reached the airport by 7:45 and boarded our flight which Got delayed by 90 minutes and I was saved. If I could take a lesson from this story, I would firstly say that don't be too careless in life. Secondly, if you leave everything to god's will, he will definitely find a way for you.
